Sessions and Funding

Assessments
The assessment is the first step in understanding your child’s communication strengths and needs. It helps us create a therapy plan that’s tailored just for them.
What’s involved:
-
Face-to-face assessment: The assessment is usually 60-90 minutes in length (depending on the number of skills needing assessment), and may be conducted over two sessions. During the session/s, we assess a variety of communication areas such as speech sounds, understanding and use of language, social communication, fluency and voice using standardised tools and play-based tasks appropriate to your child’s age and developmental level.
-
Comprehensive report: You’ll receive a detailed report outlining your child’s communication profile and personalised recommendations.
Please contact us for more information about assessment and report fees.
Therapy
Therapy is where we work together to help your child build confidence and communication skills. Sessions are tailored to your child, engaging and based on your child’s goals.
What's involved:
-
Face-to-face sessions: Sessions may be 30 or 45 minutes, depending on your child's attention level and the number of skills needing to be targeted. Each session includes targeted activities designed to support your child’s goals in fun, functional ways. Sessions may involve play, books, games and visuals.
-
Home practice support: We’ll share practical ideas and strategies you can use at home to reinforce what your child is learning in sessions. The more practice your child does at home, the faster they will develop their new skills and achieve their goals.
-
Family and school collaboration: We will work alongside you and your family, educators and other professionals to support your child across all environments.
Please contact us for more information about therapy fees.
Please note that these fees are reviewed annually and may be subject to change at the beginning of each calendar year.

Funding
Medicare: Your child may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan (previously called EPC) through your GP. This plan allows for up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year (sometimes shared across providers) and includes a partial rebate for each session. Please speak with your GP prior to commencing services to see whether your child is eligible for this plan, and if so, please bring the plan to your first session.
Private Health: Many private health funds offer rebates for speech pathology services under extras cover. Please check with your health fund to see if you're covered for speech therapy and what your limits are.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme): We are able to see clients who are self-managed at this time.
